The aerodynamic design of the popular Edge 500 was Garmin's starting point. Then Garmin Challenges added Strava live segments for cycling, and added a color screen, online capabilities and advanced analytics. The result? The Edge 520, a GPS bike computer that is designed for professional cyclists and is packed with the features that they have always wanted.

Strava live segments

• The Edge 520 is one of the first cycling computers that is compatible with Strava live segments and includes a free 3-month trial subscription for Strava Premium. Thus, your Strava favorite segments are automatically synchronized with the 520, so that you get live feedback during your tour. You also get alerts for the start and end of segments, as well as after completion of the segment.

Training with the Edge

• Need a little more motivation to complete those lonely kilometers on the indoor trainer? Pair the Edge 520 with compatible ANT + -indoor-coaches, enjoy the other training functions available. Suppose you want to train with an average power of 240 watts. Choose your destination on the Edge 520, step into the pedals, and the trainer adjusts automatically so that you reach your goals. Your statistics will be displayed on the 520. Alternatively, you can follow a route that you or other cyclists have created. Thus, you can have a virtual race against recorded statistics. The trainer adjusts the resistance according your the height profile.
• You can pair the Edge 520 with a power meter to identify additional performance values. Follow example, view your performance-based anaerobic threshold (FTP) and watts / kg and compare yourself with others or control your training. You can also use the Cycling Dynamics² to analyze your cycling training more specifically. An integrated FTP test helps you reach your goals on the indoor trainer or on the road. If you train with an additional heart rate chest monitor³, the Edge 520 can calculate your VO2max and recovery time based on the training, so you know how long you should wait before the next hard workout.

Optimized display

• the high-resolution, 2.3 inch color display of the Edge does not compromise. The size has been maximized in comparison to the compact design of the 520. The display is very clear in all lighting conditions.

An all around networked bike

• The Edge 520 is compatible with ANT + sensors, among others, and with the Varia ™ -Bicycle radar and Varia-Bicylce Lights 4 well as with sensors for speed, cadence and heart rate. The Edge and VIRB® remotes for the Virb Action Camera have compatible scales. Furthermore, the Edge 520 allows integration with electronic Shimano Di2 electronic shifting system so that you can see which gear is currently engaged on the display. The Edge 520 is compatible with ANT + power meters such as the Vector series.

Smartphone connectivity

• Use additional online features, if you pair the Edge 520 with your compatible smartphone and the Garmin Connect ™ Mobile App: get live tracking, smartphone alerts, data sharing via social media, weather information and wireless uploads. After the tour, the data can be automatically sent to Garmin Connect ™, our online training platform for storing, planning and sharing your routes.

Move Your Own Way

• With its compact, robust design and battery life of up to 15 hours, the Edge 520 is perfectly suited for any tour. It also supports GPS and GLONASS satellites, thus an optimal satellite reception is guaranteed.
• In unfamiliar areas you can track your path. The preloaded basemap serves as additional guidance for your cycling.
